Type 2 diabetes and the benefits of cold plunge therapy

Studies show that brown adipose tissue improves the body’s glycemic control and reduces harmful cholesterol. That means that brown fat could potentially prevent the emergence of type 2 diabetes and possibly improve the glycemic control of people with type 2 diabetes.

The activity of this tissue, which promotes good health, can be improved by cold exposure such as ice bath or cold plunge therapy. Regular, carefully-controlled cold treatments in Avantopool ice baths can be designed so that the duration and water temperature promote the effective activation of brown fat.

Rheumatism and ice bath therapy for pain relief

Cold has long been known to be an effective treatment for inflamed joints. Many people with rheumatism have said that ice swimming helps alleviate pain. But to be a truly effective tool in pain management, ice swimming really should be done daily. That’s why dipping in the ice bath is such a great way to relieve pain from rheumatism – in addition to all the other benefits of cold treatment, of course.

Studies have shown that cold therapy, including cold plunge treatments, can reduce pain and joint problems in rheumatic patients and decreases the joint temperature, which may reduce the activity of the neurotransmitters that cause inflammation and joint damage. Cold treatment is recommended in combination with the medicine prescribed by your doctor. Exercise initiated immediately after cold treatment and joint movement exercise for patients with severe rheumatoid arthritis have also been shown to be less painful.

Before starting a continuous cold treatment for a rheumatic patient, we recommend that you consult with your doctor.

Avantopool cold plunges can be used in rheumatic treatments in hospitals, health centers and rehabilitation facilities, as well as in home conditions and serviced living facilities.
